2016 Brea Pinot Noir

Brea is one of my go-to wineries for excellent value Cabernet & Pinot Noir from a California Winery. Wine-Maker Chris Brockway, whose winery Broc Cellars, is an Avant-Garde winery focusing on many eclectic varietals, uses Brea Winery to focus on the more traditional varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir & Chardonnay.

The grapes for the Brea Pinot Noir are from the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County. The people of Brea sum it up best I think when they say, “BREA wines are accessible in price and quality, ready to drink now but also suitable for short term aging. The goal is to open minds back up to these classic varietals. There is a reason people have loved them over the years and we want you to be proud to have them on your shelves or serve them by the glass.”

And I am indeed proud to have them on my shelves and hopefully in your glass. Arrival is Thursday!

MySomm Tasting Notes: “A very floral nose of spiced lavender and violets as well as aromas of juicy plum, raspberry, & a hint of Herbs de Provence. It’s medium bodied with a silky smooth texture. There are easy-to-enjoy flavors of red berries, candied flowers, & a smoky hint of tea leaf. The elegant, smooth palate and flavor combination here make this very desirable and the price point makes it almost irresistible.”
