Kobal Sauvignon Blanc Posavje, Slovenia

I can’t pronounce many of the regions, but some really great wines are coming out of Eastern Europe, especially areas like Croatia, Slovenia, & Hungary.

The vineyards for the Kobal Sauv Blanc are located on steep hillsides and composed mostly of marl soils not dissimilar to the soils of Burgundy regions like Vosne-Romanee. These soils, rich in clay and limestone are part of what makes this Sauvignon Blanc so clean and refreshing.

Don’t miss out on these. Place your order now and the wine will arrive on Thursday.

MySomm Tasting Notes: “This is a great take on the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The nose on this wine shows classic Sauvignon Blanc characteristics of gooseberry & grapefruit with subtle, intriguing notes of passionfruit and dried basil. My favorite part of this wine is the palate, which shows surprising body and richness not typically associated with the grape. This comes from extended aging on the lees. The round palate includes flavors of citrus laced with minerals and a touch of salinity. The wine is racy and vibrant…full of life. Enjoy this wine by itself on a warm day or preferably with a crustacean dish.”
