Lagar de Pintos Albariño Rias Baixas, Spain

In true Louisiana fashion, in a matter of days we’ve experienced multiple seasons, from frigid Winter to fresh Spring. The last few days have left me with the desire to sit on the porch, drink refreshing white wine, and enjoy some boiled crawfish. This wine will make all three of these things so much more enjoyable.

One of my favorite options for a spritely white is Albariño, particularly from the Rías Baixas region of Spain. The region sits on Spain’s far West coast, right on the shores of the Atlantic. In fact, some vineyards in the region are so close to the Atlantic that sea foam actually sprays on the vines.

This is an outstanding wine from one of the best regions for white wines in the world. I tasted it for the first time last week and when I did I knew we had something special. I’ll be ordering this on Wednesday for Thursday arrival so let me know how many you’d like so that I make sure to order enough.

MySomm Tasting Notes: “Aromas of briny green apple, white peach, & honeyed white flower jump out of the glass. This is a wine that exudes liveliness. On the front end, the zingy lime and salty tangerine jolt the palate while the lightening like acidity and mineral qualities linger on the long, clean finish.”
