Good Morning My Friends,

Mary Taylor is quickly becoming one of my favorite selections of wines.  Mary Taylor is a unique situation.  Her motto is "demystifying European wines".  What Mary Taylor has done is teamed up outstanding winemakers from all over Europe to create these excellent wines and then import them to the United States.

The Mary Taylor wine from the Douro Valley of Portugal are created by Filipe Ferreira of Quinta da Foz located right along the Douro River.  The wine is made from native Portuguese grapes 60% Touring Nacional, 20% Touriga Franca, 20% Touriga Roriz.  All are hand harvested, and all are from 50-80 year old vines.  It really is prime terroir in the Douro Valley.

I tasted this wine yesterday along with many other Mary Taylor wines.  Out of all of them, this was the one that really stood out to me.  I hope you come by today and grab some of these.  They're the perfect everyday table red, and just light enough to enjoy a good red during the Summer heat.

Ben's Tasting Notes:
"The nose has expressive fruit, some blueberry and some dominant grapey characteristics (I know that might sound ridiculous but meaning actual grapes you'd buy at the store.) The fruit is dominant on the nose but there's a freshness to it with floral notes like violets and some fresh lavender.  The palate is medium bodied, not too big to enjoy during the hot months.   It's got great structure, very soft, seamless tannins.  The palate is a wonderful combination of the fruit, spices, and floral/herb quality.  With a slight chill on this, it's a wonderful wine to enjoy right now at almost any occasion."
