Gravel Bar Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley, Washington

The hunt for quality Cabernet Sauvignon at a good price is never ending. Gravel Bar takes it’s name from the local terroir. For more than twenty centuries, torrential floodwaters from melting ice-age glaciers sculpted eastern Washington’s Columbia Valley, leaving in their wake deep deposits of sandy, rocky, alluvial soils. Today, framing the Columbia River, broad plains of ancient sediment constitute one of the world’s finest wine grape growing regions.

I was impressed with the line from Gravel Bar all the way around. Their wines are well made all the way around. These will be In-Stock on Thursday. Make sure to reserve yours now.

MySomm Tasting Notes: “My favorite part of this Cabernet is that it shows a tremendously complex balance of dark fruit and spicy, herbal components…particularly when one considers the price. The nose shows black cherry, plum, and raspberry stewed with rosemary, mint, & other herbs/spices. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deeply concentrated and quite hearty. The core of the wine shows rich dark fruit with a savory character. The tannins are robust and smooth and the wine boasts a long, lingering finish. Enjoy this one with a hearty lamb dish.”

MySomm Price:  $16.55/btl, Case Special: $14.55/btl
