Fortress Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley, Sonoma

fortress cabernet

I don’t usually like to feature the same type of grape varieties or wines from the same region back to back but it just so happens that last week I tasted two excellent Cabernets from California.

I was immensely impressed with this wine when I tasted it last week. To be totally honest, I had heard of the wine before but had always written it off for some reason as an inadequate wine. But when I tasted it I realized that this Cabernet from near the Mayacamas mountains was packing some serious quality.

This packs a punch similar to a much higher priced Cab at a hell of a price. I’ve got some cases of this in stock today. Come by and grab yours, and go ahead and place your order for a refill because I have a feeling you’re going to want it!

MySomm Tasting Notes: “The nose is deep and intense with a rush of dark black cherry, spicy dark chocolate, some roasted herbs, & succulent plums. This is full-bodied with rich, supple tannins that are smooth as silk. The finish is long with lingering subtle flavors of smoky vanilla & chocolate covered strawberries. Decant for an hour or so to let this Cab come together fully.”
