2018 Ameztoi “Rubentis” Txacolina Rosé

Well it seems that the Spring season in Louisiana will be taking place this week! With the way things go around here, I’m certainly going to try and relish this gorgeous weather for as long as it lasts. In my opinion, there’s no better way to enjoy a nice spring day than with a glass of refreshing rosé.

The Ameztoi “Rubentis” Rosé is my most allocated rosé every year. That’s right, “Allocated Rosé”. Usually that word also equals expensive, but in this case the wine stays within my “no rosé over $20” policy. Ameztoi owns about 20 hectares of some of the best vineyards in Txacolina, prime land right along the Atlantic coast near San Sebastien.

The grapes that make up this wine are 50% Hondarribi Beltza and 50% Hondarribi Zuri. Don’t worry, I’d never heard of those grapes either. The Txacolina possesses a very slight effervescence. Not enough to be mistaken for a sparkling but just enough to add an extra level of zest.

I’ve got only a few cases of this coming in on Thursday so make sure to reserve yours by responding to this e-mail.

MySomm’s Tasting Notes: “The nose here is exuberant, showing lively citrus (lemon, orange) as well as some ripe strawberry notes. There is an ample mineral quality both on the nose and the palate. Lots of slate and crushed rocks. In the mouth this is light and zippy with just a touch of effervescence. The finish shows zesty grapefruit and cherry aromas with a touch of lime & rose water.”
