Balletto Pinot Gris Russian River Valley

I hope you all had a good weekend. Last week I tasted through a variety of wines, all new to me. The lineup was great and I’ll be featuring a number of these new wines but today I’m happy to show you this lovely Pinot Gris from the Balletto winery in Russian River Valley.

All of the grapes that go into this wine come from estate vineyards owned by the winery. Unlike a Pinot Grigio that you may be used to, the Balletto is aged entirely in Neutral Oak, which doesn’t impart any toasty, vanilla, oak flavors but does give the wine an extra lift in body, weight, & texture.

I enjoyed this tremendously. I think it’s a versatile food wine as well as a sipper that you can easily enjoy alone. Place your order and the wine will arrive on Friday.

MySomm Tasting Notes: “Lovely nose with a broad aromatic spectrum that includes notes of white flower, honey suckle, white peach and orange zest. While the nose is gorgeous, the mouthfeel is my favorite part of this wine. Medium bodied with a supple texture and savory tones. Zesty lime with hints of salinity , along with flavors fresh herbs and limestone complete this complex palate. The finish is long and bright with zingy acidity and succulent minerality.”

MySomm Price: $19.45/btl
